Rechargeable iWand 10 Speed Cordless Waterproof Wand

The iWand is a cordless rechargeable vibrator that has great power and keeps a charge for up to 3 hours. It has a deeper tone and comes the closest to the vibration of the original Hitachi Magic Wand that I have found so far which to me was its best feature. The different tone makes it much quieter and the sound won’t travel through walls .

The iWand has 10 vibration modes but unfortunately there is no way to change the speed. The only thing I didn’t like was that the on/off switch is very sensitive and is easily switched on or off when you don’t mean to do so. I would advise not traveling with this item if you don’t want TSA pulling it out of your suitcase when it turns itself on  at the airport.

The wand has a soft silicone cover that makes it waterproof and very easy to clean between uses. This silicone skin only covers half of the wand and the other half is plastic. It has a smaller head than the Shibari Mega Wand and the Hitachi. I enjoyed this vibrator and feel the silicone cover and waterproof rating make this a excellent value for the price.

Overall Score- Rechargeable iWand = Hitachi

Shibari Mega Wand Massager

I really like  the feel of this one!  It has a 2 inch wide head  with a flexible neck. A satiny smooth skin made of silicone covers the entire wand which makes this  wand vibrator truly waterproof.  This silicone skin also makes it easy to clean after each use which won’t be a problem since you will probably be using it in the tub or shower!

The Shibari Mega Wand has 10 modes with 5 speed adjustments.  The first two modes are your typical steady vibration mode in low and high and 8 additional pulse variations. You can fine tune each of these modes by changing the speed  up or down easily to get it just right!  I like that it has a separate on/off switch so you don’t accidently turn it off trying to adjust the modes like other wands that I have used.

The Shibari Mega Wand is  cordless and comes with an charging adaptor and a velvet storage bag. This vibrator has great power for a cordless but is also quite for discrete  operation. I have to say the only thing that I wasn’t crazy about this wand is that the body of the vibrator lights up during operation and it reminds me of a large lightning bug!

This vibe will run you double what you would pay for other cordless vibrators but I think it is worth the extra $$ for the silicone skin and true waterproof feature.  These upgrades have earned the Shibari Mega Wand extra points!

Overall Score- Shibari Mega Wand= Hitachi +1

Purple Rechargeable Magic Wand Vibrator

The purple rechargeable Magic Wand is comparable in size and shape as the  Hitachi Magic Wand vibrator but it a lighter weight appliance.  It has a large silicone head with a very flexible neck that is comfortable to use. You have 10 modes to choose from with the first two modes in a steady vibration with low speed first then a high speed as the second mode. I personally use these two modes the most and it’s nice that they are the first two selections.  Unfortunately, you don’t have a way to change power or speeds on the other 8 modes.  I would recommend this wand at half the price of the rechargeable Hitachi Magic Wand if you want a more affordable option.  And, it is effective…

Overall score:  Rechargeable Magic Wand= HITACHI -2

8 Speed Wand Essentials Massager vs Hitachi Magic Wand

For those who are interested in The Wand Essentials massager I am comparing this wand vibrator to the Hitachi Magic wand to help you decide if it would be a good choice for you. This wand  is comparable to the  original Hitachi Magic Wand in size  of  massage head and length of the appliance at 12.5″. The Essentials has a soft head that is removable  for cleaning  where the Hitachi has a firmer head that must be cleaned while still  on the appliance.  The Wand Essentials  runs about  half the price of the Hitachi Magic Wand and it’s lighter in weight and may not be as sturdy  and long lasting as the Hitachi. Both are corded so you don’t have to worry about batteries losing strength while at play.

The Wand Essential vibrator has 8 speeds and 8 vibration modes. There is a dial  on the shaft that you can easily operate with your thumb.  By pressing the on/off button you can switch between  8 different modes that change  the patterns of vibrations.  You must press and hold the mode button to turn the appliance on and off.  One thing that I don’t like about this wand is the on/off  button is located  where one would naturally hold the massager and  I would accidently turn off the wand at unfortunate moments.  The Magic wand on/off switch is located further up the shaft of the wand so I haven’t had issues switching it off unintentionally. The  speeds variations were such a subtle  difference on the Wand Essentials that I can only tell 5 true speed differences.  The sound is a much higher buzzing sound instead of the deeper humming  of the  two speed Hitachi. The Hitachi, which is a heavier appliance, produces a deeper vibration sensation compared to the Essentials massager.

If you want a deeper vibration sensation  that is steady and unchanging  and you want a  more durable and longer lasting appliance then I would recommend you spend the extra money for the Hitachi.  If you need a more affordable option to the original Hitachi Magic Wand  and you enjoy having the option  of various vibration modes then I think you would enjoy the 8 speed Wand Essentials massager more…hope this helps.

Overall score : 8 speed Wand Essentials = HITACHI – 1  (minus 1 from Hitachi)

Hitachi Magic Wand – The Holy Grail of Vibrators

I’ll be using the Hitachi Magic Wand as the ultimate wand vibrator and grading  all other wand massagers by comparison.  For those of us who need constant attention , like me, you can’t beat it. It’s powerful and  relentless!!  The original version has a cord and has only two speeds. This works fine for me as the wands that have different modes and change speed and pulses every few seconds is distracting and makes it harder for me to orgasm. I personally only use the low speed as the high is actually too much stimulation!  Many women  will find that they need to put something such as  a washcloth between themselves and the appliance or insert the wand inside a soft sock  to protect delicate skin.

The best thing  the Hitachi Magic Wand and wand vibrators in general, is that one can use it for clitoral stimulation during intercourse  making climax much  easier to obtain.  Lets face it, when  a  woman is  over the age of 40, has given birth one or more times or is  dealing with hormone decline due to  menopause, it takes some extra effort! Another thing I like about the Hitachi Magic Wand  is the tennis ball size head that works it’s magic over a wider area.  You can’t beat it’s durability either. I’ve purchased mine over 10 years ago and it’s still works like a charm!  Considering how long this vibe  has lasted and how often it’s used I feel it was well worth the extra bucks.  I hope this gets you excited about trying out several different  brands of wand vibrators to decide what works best for you. Enjoy the hunt!

Welcome to my vibrator review page

Hi.  I’m Shelly.  I’ve been married to the same man for nearly 25 years and I’m mother of two sons who have just moved out of the house. Now that we are considered “empty nesters”  we can make noise, walk around naked,  and remember what it was like BC!  To celebrate, my husband has persuaded me to test out a plethora of sex toys to have some fun.  Since I prefer magic wand type vibrators, that’s where we’ll start.  I’ll try to put out a review every week or so, but life may interfere. The Original  Hitachi Magic Wand will be used as the gold standard for comparing all other wand type massagers.

  • Hitachi =  5 Stars ( rating as you would find on Amazon)
  • Hitachi -1 = 4 Stars
  • Hitachi -2 = 3 Stars
  • Hitachi -3 = 2 Stars
  • Hitachi – 4 = 1 Star

I hope these reviews may help you decide what will work best for you.  But either way, I know I’m going to have fun with this!
